Dental veneers are one of the most efficient and effective ways to achieve a complete smile makeover. Veneers are cosmetic enhancements used to conceal many types of flaws including stains, chips, and cracks. Our cosmetic dentist offers Lumineers, name brand veneers where a patented type of porcelain is used to create these custom cosmetic enhancements. Since Lumineers are bonded over teeth permanently, they are cared for much like biological teeth.
Those with veneers will brush and floss as normal as well as keep regular dental appointments for cleanings and checkups. While the material used to make Lumineers is resistant to staining, the biological structure of teeth can darken with exposure to foods like berries and beverages like coffee, wine, or tea. Lastly, patients should be careful when biting as they would with natural teeth. Chewing on pen caps or ice cubes can crack or chip a veneer just as it would a biological tooth.
What makes Lumineers different?
Although Lumineers and standard veneers produce similar results, there are some differences. Lumineers are ultra-thin and made from a proprietary porcelain compound. Since Lumineers are thinner than conventional veneers, less tooth preparation is needed to place them. This means that our dentist will not have to remove as much tooth structure to create a stable surface for veneer placement when Lumineers are used.
Like veneers, however, Lumineers are customized for each tooth. Each Lumineer veneer is made to very exact measurements based on dental impressions taken by our team. This means that patients will enjoy a beautiful improvement to their smile that will not look fake or obvious.
How do I know if veneers are right for me?
Veneers of any kind are an investment in one’s appearance. After treatment, our patients report that receiving veneers is life changing. This is because improving the aesthetics of one’s smile boosts self-esteem and confidence on top of increasing attractiveness.
Most patients with visible imperfections such as misshapen and crooked teeth along with chips, stains, and cracks can benefit from receiving Lumineers. After a consultation, our team can recommend the best types of cosmetic treatments for your needs.

Patients don’t need to settle for a dingy yellow smile or stained teeth that mar a grin. A cosmetic dentist can use different interventions to improve the shade of a patient’s teeth or eliminate or hide stains, and the recommended treatment will be tailored to the patient’s unique needs. Two of the main options are veneers, such as Lumineers, and teeth whitening.
Teeth whitening treatments are most commonly used to brighten patients’ smiles. Depending on the patient’s preferences, these treatments can be administered by the cosmetic dentist in the office, or the patient can wear custom-designed trays that contain bleaching gels at home as directed.
In the dentist’s office, the gel can be activated with specialized lasers that help the bleaching agents take effect quite quickly. In-office treatments leave patients with smiles that are up to 10 shades whiter and require just about an hour of their time. This is a good choice for a patient who needs whiter teeth in a hurry or even those who just want results right away.
In contrast, patients usually don’t see results from at-home teeth whitening systems for at least a few days, but those results tend to be quite even and consistent. Patients can also use the trays at home to maintain whitening treatments originally delivered in the office.
Generally, veneers will be used to whiten the teeth of patients whose smiles have not responded adequately to typical bleaching gels. For example, patients who have deep stains in their teeth may not get the results they want from teeth whitening alone. Veneers can conceal such stains and give the affected tooth a much whiter appearance.
The treatment timeline for veneers can be a couple of weeks, as the devices are custom-crafted according to the patient’s unique specifications. Your dentist can let you know what to expect for timing of the veneer placement. When the veneers are ready, you will return to the office to have them bonded atop your teeth.
Talk to one of our expert dentists to determine which treatment is most appropriate to brighten and whiten your teeth. We will evaluate your case and talk to you about your desired outcomes in order to move forward with the best method to meet your needs. Call our team today at Ora Dental Studio to set up a consultation!

Veneers, such as Lumineers, can be used in some cases to close a diastema (gap between the front teeth) much more quickly than orthodontic treatment would take to achieve the same goal. The treatment is completed over two appointments spaced a few weeks apart.
Patients who are interested in exploring this treatment option should consult with our cosmetic dentists to see if it is appropriate in their case.
At the first appointment, one of our cosmetic dentists will gather all of the information needed to determine the design of the Lumineers. A dental impression will be taken and sent to the lab that will be crafting the veneers.
When the Lumineers are ready, the patient returns to the office to have them placed. The appearance of the veneers cannot be altered after they are bonded to the teeth, so the patient must be satisfied with them before they are placed. Additionally, the patient should have any desired teeth whitening to the natural teeth before getting the Lumineers, since the devices won’t respond to bleaching agents.
Lumineers are unique among veneers because they are ultra-thin, about the same thickness as a contact lens. Therefore, the targeted tooth typically will not need to have a significant amount healthy enamel removed to make room for the Lumineer. This also eliminates the need for temporary veneers, which can be inconvenient.
The treatment requires no shots or drilling, so it’s largely painless for patients, and the patient can expect minimal, if any, sensitivity or discomfort after the treatment is completed. Furthermore, Lumineers can be removed if you decide you no longer want them.
In addition to closing gaps, veneers like Lumineers also can conceal chips, dark stains or cracks in the teeth. They can even be used to make a slightly crooked line of teeth look straighter!
Lumineers may be the right treatment to fill an undesired space between your teeth. Come to our office at Ora Dental Studio for a consultation to get more information on these devices.

Are you considering transforming your smile with porcelain veneers? Lumineers, a brand of ultra-thin veneers are one popular method for concealing any type of smile imperfection without sacrificing a natural looking appearance. Not only are Lumineers beautiful, they are durable. Unlike teeth, veneers are not porous and therefore are very resistant to staining. Moreover, veneers have a long lasting glaze coating, which protects them from darkening.
How can Lumineers improve my smile?
Sometimes, patients with many types of smile flaws feel hopeless. This is because multiple procedures may be needed to truly transform one’s appearance. Lumineers, however, address all kinds of flaws and imperfections in just one procedure. Made from super thin pieces of high-quality porcelain, Lumineers are bonded over the outsides of teeth. This means that these tooth-shaped and lifelike cosmetic enhancements can conceal misaligned teeth, cracked and fractured teeth, and permanent discoloration. After veneers are bonded to teeth, our patients leave our office with a brand new, red carpet-worthy smile.
Do Lumineers require special care?
Since Lumineers are permanently bonded to teeth, they are brushed and flossed like biological teeth. Practicing oral hygiene is very important—especially because the backsides of teeth are still susceptible to decay. Lumineers are quite durable but when eating, patients should be mindful of twisting motions when tearing food, as it can loosen the bonding material with time.
What can I expect during the procedure?
Receiving Lumineers only requires two visits to our office. During the first visit, one of our cosmetic dentists will slightly reduce tooth enamel to provide a flat bonding surface. This process is minimally invasive and does not produce discomfort. Then molds will be taken to determine the proper size and shape of each cosmetic enhancement. Once the Lumineers are ready, patients will return to our office for the bonding process. Most people do not require local anesthesia or sedatives for this procedure.

Do you dream of a straight, white smile? Perhaps your teeth are stained and crooked. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your smile, you probably avoid smiling and laughing around others because you feel embarrassed by your teeth. Fortunately, with cosmetic dentistry, you can achieve a flawless, beautiful smile. One method for achieving a uniform and attractive smile is the placement of Lumineers. With proper care including routine checkups and cleanings, Lumineers can last up to 20 years.
Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, placing Lumineers requires less tooth preparation. This non-invasive procedure takes only two visits to our cosmetic dentist. During your first visit to our office, our dentist will take impressions of your teeth. These impressions will be used to determine the exact size and shape of your Lumineers so that they will complement your teeth and facial features. At your first appointment, you will also choose the best shade of white to improve the color of your smile.
When your Lumineers are sent back, you will return for the placement process, which usually takes about an hour’s time. The bonding of Lumineers to the teeth does not produce discomfort and does not require anesthesia. Each veneer will be placed individually with a special bonding process that ensures durability. Our team will also make sure that your cosmetic veneers align properly with your bite so that when your mouth is closed your veneers do not scrape against each other. Because Lumineers are durable, you can enjoy your favorite foods. You will floss and brush your teeth as normal to maintain a clean, healthy mouth.
To determine if this cosmetic procedure is right for you, we recommend that you schedule a consultation with our team. At your consultation, our dentist will evaluate your needs and the current condition of your teeth. During your consultation, we welcome you to ask questions about the procedure and long-term care of your cosmetic enhancements.

Many dental imperfections can be altered, replaced, and/or repaired. But one of the least invasive, reversible options available is to correct problem areas with Lumineers.
…one of the least invasive, reversible options available is to correct problem areas with Lumineers.
Lumineers is the brand name of a dental veneer that can correct:
- Dental stain – One or more teeth suffering with intrinsic stain can benefit from different procedures – usually the hygienist is able to remove extrinsic stains resulting from diet or lifestyle habits. However, when medication or over-fluoridation has stained teeth from the inside, many topical treatments will not be sufficient to correct the problem.
- Chipped teeth – When dental bonding is not enough, a Lumineer can cover an unsightly, chipped or broken tooth.
- Gaps between teeth – Those unwanted spaces appear to close when treated with Lumineers.
- Misshapen or worn teeth – Lumineers can take worn down enamel or teeth that appear not to match surrounding teeth and make all of them appear symmetrical.
- Gum erosion – Brushing too hard or genetics can result in teeth appearing to have a shelf when gum tissue has worn away displaying the bony tissue above the tooth close to the gum line. Lumineers can cover the tooth and worn away portion appearing to form one solid tooth.
Veneers are ultra-thin “jackets” that are fabricated to be placed over existing problem teeth to basically cover the dental imperfection. Most veneers require dental enamel about the thickness of the veneer to be removed so the finished product will look natural. However, Lumineers is a non-invasive process. What this means to the patient is that very little of the enamel is removed making the process reversible in the event the patient wishes to have them removed. With most other dental veneers, they are considered permanent and cannot be removed.
Another big advantage to Lumineers is their durability. Not only do they look natural, they will resist stain and actually add strength to the teeth they cover.
For patients that fear the discomfort of dental work, Lumineers can be applied without the need for drilling or injections to numb the area providing a totally pain free cosmetic restoration.
Upon completion, the Lumineers will have been applied only to teeth that require repair and will so closely match surrounding teeth it will be difficult to tell which teeth have been treated.

If you were to take an informal poll to find out how the average person feels about their smile, you would probably find out that we have a lot in common. Many of us would like to fix one or more cosmetic flaws to make our smiles more attractive and healthy-looking.
Mild or moderate flaws can make us feel insecure about our smile and might even influence the way that other people perceive us. It is fortunate that, in this age of modern technology, options such as Lumineers are available to conceal the issues that concern us the most.
For example, mild or moderate crowding could be corrected with braces, but many adults would prefer to bypass the old-fashioned brackets and wires in favor of a quicker and more comfortable solution. And, choosing a solution to your cosmetic concerns isn’t always about convenience. It is imperative that you choose the option that can best accommodate all of your concerns as safely and efficiently as possible.
That’s why, when you are not pleased with the appearance of your front teeth, Lumineers may be a particularly valid treatment option. Very similar, yet more conservative, than traditional porcelain veneers, Lumineers will be made to cover the surfaces of the front teeth that can be seen when you smile. In light of their design, these restorations can make your teeth appear to be straighter, larger, smaller, whiter, and more uniform in shape—all at the same time!
In contrast, braces can straighten your teeth, but cannot be used to change any other characteristics about your teeth. And, based on the informal statistics from your survey, it is probably safe to say that most of us would change multiple aspects of our smile if the solution was reasonable, safe, and affordable.
It should be noted that Lumineers are not a treatment option for certain orthodontic conditions. Crowding or spacing that impacts the back teeth, or severe bite discrepancies of the front teeth may not be suitably treated with Lumineers, since those types of skeletal conditions cannot be corrected with cosmetic treatments alone.

Lumineers is the brand name for a specific type of dental veneer used in cosmetic dentistry to repair a multitude of dental imperfections.
Lumineers can be placed in two visits, in most cases require no anesthetic, and the treatment is reversible, if needed. The porcelain used is extremely thin allowing very little (if any) of dental enamel to be removed. Your cosmetic dentist may recommend these veneers to correct:
- Stained teeth – Many topical stains can be removed, but for stubborn intrinsic stains no amount of whitening or bleaching will eliminate discoloration. Lumineers are extremely thin tooth shaped covers that are permanently attached to stained teeth providing a permanent bright smile.
- Chipped teeth – A chipped tooth in the smile line can spoil your appearance. Lumineers can make a chipped tooth appear whole again.
- Crooked or misshapen teeth – These veneers can make teeth appear symmetrical without years of treatment or wearing dental orthotics.
- Undesirable gaps between teeth – Those spaces appear closed in no time!
Lumineers are ideal for patients that have dental anxiety in that this treatment does not require needles, grinding on teeth, or the whirring of a dental drill. Patients can enjoy having whiter, straighter teeth without the anxiety and discomfort that accompany similar treatments.
Recommendations for teeth treated with these veneers include:
- Do not bite onto extremely hard surfaces like rock candy or ice.
- Habits like chewing fingernails or pens/pencils should be discontinued.
- Consuming dark beverages that are known for staining like coffee, tea, red wine, etc. should be limited. Although porcelain is popular for its ability to resist stain, just like teeth, discoloring can occur.
- For remaining natural teeth not covered with Lumineers, yellowing from smoking or any tobacco use can spoil an otherwise new and bright smile.
- Limiting sugary snacks and beverages will not only promote improved dental health, but overall health will benefit as well.
- Adhere to any other instructions provided by your cosmetic dentist to maximize the longevity of your new dental veneers.
Caring for Lumineers requires the same oral hygiene regimen used for natural teeth. Daily flossing and brushing at least twice per day with the recommended tooth paste or gel along with semi-annual visits to the dentist for cleaning and exam will provide years of enjoyment from your dental Lumineers. When you look in the mirror, do you imagine how your smile could change if:
- Your teeth were not stained
- The gap between your teeth was gone
- Your teeth were not misshapen
- Your teeth were not chipped
- Your teeth were not worn down and uneven
The common denominator in these facts involves making changes to your teeth. All of these issues could be corrected with Lumineers.
Lumineers provide a safe, reversible way to improve your smile symmetry in two brief visits to your cosmetic dentist.
Lumineers are wafer thin coverings that are placed over teeth that require cosmetic repair without undergoing years of orthodontic treatment or similar procedures that are not reversible and require removal of dental enamel to cement in place.
Lumineers provide a safe, reversible way to improve your smile symmetry in two brief visits to your cosmetic dentist.
Correcting your smile with Lumineers is completed in two easy appointments. Once you have decided that Lumineers is the answer to pave your way to a new smile, your dentist will take dental impressions, match the shade of surrounding teeth and your Lumineers will be fabricated.
On your big day, the dentist will prepare your teeth without the need for anesthetic as there will be no significant amount of enamel removed. The Lumineers will be “tried on” to make sure the fit and coloring provide the appearance you wanted. Upon approval, the veneers will be cemented into place.
Whether you are correcting one or several teeth, the finished product will be delivered with long lasting results. You will see dental stain disappear, crooked teeth appear straight, chipped teeth look whole again, and that gap between teeth you’ve disparaged over is gone.
You are left with a new smile that was achieved in two dental appointments. The procedure was painless, and is permanent, but not irreversible. What that means is that since no amount of dental enamel was removed to place your Lumineers, if you wish to pursue something different in the future, these veneers can be removed and the teeth underneath are intact.
That is not the case with similar dental enhancements. Once enamel or tooth structure has been removed, there is no way to grow it back. So when considering permanent cosmetic dentistry, learn all the facts.
Our team of cosmetic dentists at Ora Dental Studio will be happy to explain all the advantages to Lumineer dental veneers, and how you can achieve your new smile symmetry in minimal time with long lasting results. Call 312-491-9494 to schedule an appointment today.

Unlike conventional veneers, Lumineers are made from an advanced, ultrathin material that resembles a contact-lens. Thanks to a revolutionary proprietary process, Lumineers are only made from a patented material called Cerinate porcelain that enables these restorations to be contact lens thin.
In light of this design, the procedure for the placement of Lumineers is particularly less invasive than other types of dental veneers, leaving your teeth more structurally sound. In fact, these versatile restorations can even be removed if necessary.
Compared to conventional veneer procedures which require the removal of a significant amount of tooth structure, Lumineers do not typically require the cutting or grinding of the natural teeth. At the completion of the procedure, there are also less complications and less post-operative discomfort compared to traditional veneers.
Proper maintenance will influence the success of your new smile. Clinical research has proven that your Lumineers smile can last and look great for more than 20 years.
To lengthen the lifespan of your new smile, your cosmetic dentist will suggest that you use low-abrasion toothpaste to remove plaque, stain and tartar effectively. Choosing a more gentle toothpaste formula will help to keep your Lumineers as well as your real enamel smooth and intact.
Veneers are ineffective when they chip, fracture, stain, leak or become dislodged. You can protect your veneers when you visit your dentist and hygienist regularly as well as practice the home care habits that can reduce your risk for tooth decay and gum disease.
If you suspect that you may be clenching or grinding your teeth at night (or during the day), consult your dentist for an evaluation and a customized nightguard that can protect your veneers against biting forces and possible fractures.
For over 20 years, Lumineers have been used to improve the smiles of more than 250,000 patients. In fact, more than 13,000 dentists nationwide trust Lumineers to design perfect and natural-looking smiles. To find out if this procedure is right for you, contact Ora Dental Studio today and schedule a personalized evaluation with any of our cosmetic dentists.
